Here is an interesting story which proves that the legendary writer Panchu Arunachalam is not only multi-talented but also highly efficient in handling any kind of situation and emerge successful bringing fortunes to all.

It is a well known fact that Superstar Rajinikanth and Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan decided to not act together before a few decades. The two proud protege of Iyakkunar Sigaram K.Balachander had acted in as many as 18 films before taking that decision in considering the mutual benefit.

The duo took this decision when they were shooting for the classic romance flick 'Ninaithaley Inikkum' in Singapore. That happened to be the last film in which they acted together in full fledged roles.

Panchu Arunachalam. the doyen who has passed away yesterday has worked in 23 films with Rajinikanth and 13 films with Kamal Haasan. The two stalwarts had agreed to star in a film for his P.A.Arts Productions banner.

When he came back to start the proposed film, both of them conveyed there decision to stop acting together. When Panchu reminded that they had agreed to act in his film before taking that decision, the stalwarts offered to act in two different films for the banner. However Rajini who was acting in at least three films at any given time during his formative years. could allocate only 20 days of call-sheet.

But the multi-talented legend did not keep complaining and instead penned a script that can be shot in a short period of time and did one film each with Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan simultaneously.

For Kamal. it was 'Kalyanaraman' which released on 6th of July 1979 and turned out to be one of the biggest blockbusters of his career and the success of this film lead to the first ever Tamil movie sequel 'Japanil Kalayanaraman' which was again written and produced by Panchu Arunachalam.

Rajini got one of the most memorable films of his 'Aarlirunthu Arupathuvarai'. This film released on September 14, 1979 and still cherished by fans of all age groups for its emotional content and the Superstar's acting.

Panchu Arunachalam wrote both the films. The former was directed by G.N.Rangarajan (the father of GNR Kumaravelan whose 'Wagah' is set to hit the screens this week) and the latter by S.P.Muthuraman.
