After the recent Vijaywada fire mishap which happened in the COVID centre, let us take a look at the hospitals and the precautions they are taking. To our surprise, many hospitals in the city are operating quite dangerously without taking any safety measures. Many are nothing less than 90%. This is not what we say but Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation itself says.

As per this civic body records, over 1700 hospitals are said to be non-compliant with fire safety norms. Most of the hospitals have given a self-declaration form to obtain and renew their fire no objection certificates since October 2018.

There have been instances where residents from various part of the city have complained about the issue over hospitals in their locality that they are not following adequate norms.

Commercial establishments being built in residential areas is completely unacceptable. Meanwhile, the officials of GHMC say that they have already warned hospital managements. “After the warning, 1,013 hospitals have submitted a self-declaration form with details of fire safety measures taken,” said a civic official.
