Samantha Ruth Prabhu, who was one of the key hosts of 'Woven-2017', during her speech spoke about how interactions with members of weaving community made her want to do her bit to revive the dying art.
She recounted a conversation with an old weaver who sadly told her that the tradition might die along with him. It's such interactions which turned out to be a revelation for her.
She is also going to launch a signature store called Tweave (Telangana weave?). “Everything will be directly sourced from the weavers and government approved co-operative societies. Trendy designs will be made available at affordable prices," she said.
Also, as a brand ambassador of handlooms for Telangana, the star actress is looking at working with the government.
The event saw the presence of the likes of Naga Chaitanya, Anu Emmanuel, Ritu Varma and Mehreen, who did a ramp, wearing hand-knit dresses.
