India is putting a brave fight against the Covid-19 pandemic and the frontline workers are giving their best to bring back normalcy in the Country. Vaccines played a vital role in protecting individuals in this tense situation. Corona vaccines are usually tested in three stages and will be approved based on these three-phase test data.
But Covaxin vaccine was granted emergency approval in India without releasing the results of the third phase of the study which lead to controversies. Bharat Biotech said the results of the third phase of their vaccine study would be released in July.
In this regard, Bharat Biotech has now released the test data for the third phase of the covaxin vaccine. According to the study, the Covaxin vaccine has overall efficacy of 77.8 per cent, and 93.4 per cent efficacy against corona exposure with severe symptoms.
In addition, Bharat Biotech claims that Covaxin has 65.2 per cent efficacy against the delta variant that is currently threatening the world. It is noteworthy that these results were revealed from a study of 130 people aged 18 to 98 with symptomatic corona infection in 25 locations across the country.
