Prakash Raj most recently participated in a debate with BJP leader Subramaniam Swamy. Moderated by a prominent journalist, it focused on the actor's critical disagreements with Hindutva.
When it was time for questions from the audience, Prakash Raj got angry when someone opined that directors/producers cast him in villainous roles because they see a villain in him! "I recently saw 'Bharat Ane Nenu' in which you slap a cop. You were cast as a negative character because filmmakers see a villain in you," the questioner said, getting ridiculously trivial.
At this, Prakash Raj lost his cool. "How do you judge people by the roles they play? My directors/producers see an actor in me, not a villain. How dare you call an actor a villain? I won't talk with you," the versatile actor shot back.
During the course of the debate, BJP's Swamy repeatedly referred to Prakash Raj as a "cinema actor" in a patronizing tone. This didn't go down well with the actor, who suggested that it doesn't at all matter that he is an actor.
