Expectations

When it comes to comedy films with franchise 'Hera Pheri', 'Golmaal', 'Welcome', 'Munna Bhai' and few more instantly pops up in one's mind. People love to watch their favourite comedy film with same likable characters. Sadly, very few filmmakers like Rajkumar Hirani, Rohit Shetty, etc could do justice to the sequels as the rest of them ends up making a profit earning project type of film. The latest to join this bandwagon is 'Housefull' franchise with 'Housefull 3'. The original director Sajid Khan has been replaced by Sajid-Farhad (who wrote 'Housefull 2' and directed 'Entertainment'), but also has Abhishek Bachchan as one of the big additions to the film. Thus, the expectations were sky high due to the past glory of the franchise and the short promos filled with one liner gags.

Story

'Housefull 3' is a story of a multi-millionaire Batuk Patel (Boman Irani) and his daughters Ganga (Jacqueline Fernandez), Jamuna (Lisa Haydon) and Saraswati (Nargis Fakri). Batuk does not want his daughters to get married as he fears that the marriage will bring ill luck to everyone. Little did he know that his girls had already found their love in the form of Sandy (Akshay Kumar), Teddy (Ritesh Deshmukh) and Bunty (Abhishek Bachchan).Batuk seeks help from Aakhri Pasta (Chunky Pandey), who predicts that the lovers of Ganga, Jamuna and Saraswati will be fatal for Batuk's life. The girls hatch a plan with their respective boyfriends and disguise them as physically disabled persons. This starts a chain of events involving everyone.

The 'Glitz' Factor

The one liner story is good and has loads of scope for comical moments. The basic story line is on lines with the story line format of 'Housefull' and 'Housefull 2'. Every scene involving Akshay Kumar and Abhishek Bachchan are hilarious. The first half is totally entertaining with loads of enjoyable moments. There are few enjoyable moments in the second half, which will keep the smile intact on your face. There are many one-liners and punches (Ulta toh Tarak Mehta ka chasma bhi hota hain, Gambhir toh Gautam bhi hain, Surat toh Gujarat mein bhi hain, bacche kar rahi hu - just kidding, kamwali gai kamwali gai - let bygones be bygones & many more) which will be enjoyed by the audiences. You will enjoy 'Pyaar Ki Maa Ki', 'Tang Utha Ke' and 'Yeh Ishq Ishq' due to its picturisation and choreography. Abhishek Bachchan's rapping is one of the key highlight from the film. Director Sajid-Farhad returns back after giving us a dud like 'Entertainment'. They strictly follow the 'Housefull' series format and partly succeed in the first half of the film but starts to fail out in the later part.Akshay Kumar is superb in this movie. His split personality track (inspired from 'Me Myself and Irene) is thoroughly enjoyable. Abhishek Bachchan is great in his part. He shines out in the comical scenes as well as the rapping part.Ritesh Deshmukh has always been the golden goose in such type of films, even out here he is enjoyable but not at his best.Boman Irani is hilarious and does his part with total grace.

The 'Non-Glitz' Factor

The second half slows down the pace of funny moments and tries to create a back story which is bland and boring at times.. There should have been more funny moments in the second half to enhance the confusion level between the characters. The jokes start to fade out and the plot keeps running on a thin line due to which the movie settles down. Sadly, these one liners and punches also starts to fade out in the second half as the writers try to insert more detailing in story line. Music was again a high point in the earlier 'Housefull' series, out here the songs are good too, but, not chart busters as required for such films. Wished the director duo had created more funny sequences in the second half and enhanced the fun. Jackie Shroff starts well with reminderance of his 'Hero' days but later, hardly has anything to offer. Chunky Pandey is wasted. Niketan Dheer, Arav and Samir Kocher fails to settle in the film. All the three girls look smashingly beautiful, especially Jacqueline Fernandez. In terms of acting there was nothing much from their side to offer.

Final 'Glitz'

'Housefull 3' is a moderate entertainer which will be loved by everyone who loved the initial parts. The movie could have been a full entertainer if only there were more comical moments and a good story line attached to it. For all those who loves intelligent type of films, kindly stay away from this movie as it might be injurious to your health.
