In the summer of 2019, House Oversight Committee chairman James Comer questioned the Bidens' use of these monies, including nearly $250,000 in payments from three individuals. The Delaware address on wire transfers prompted questions about the President's understanding of his son's foreign business and national security.

President Biden maintained he wasn't involved in his son's business. Lowell explained that Hunter's bank transfers were from private loans, using his father's Delaware address from his driver's license.

The White House denied Comer's claim, stating that President Biden had done nothing illegal.

In February, House Oversight and Accountability Committee investigators requested Hunter Biden's records to determine if President Biden was involved in the Biden family's commercial activities.

This subpoena precedes the GOP-led House Oversight Committee's first impeachment probe hearing into President Biden on Thursday, which will address constitutional and legal issues linked to his corruption and abuse of authority.

Republican congressional inquiries have focused on Hunter Biden's foreign business. Representative Comer disclosed documents alleging bank records showed millions in foreign payments to Hunter Biden and his allies during and after Joe Biden's vice presidency.
