Hospital staff attempts to sexually abuse COVID patient

Police case has been registered against a hospital staff for attempting to sexually abuse a COVID patient in Kerala's Kozhikode district. The incident happened on Sunday night at around 11 pm in Malabar Medical College.
According to the victim's complaint, the hospital staff identified as Ashwin took her contact number from the hospital register and bothered her by sending her vulgar messages. Annoyed by this, the woman complained to the doctors and returned to her room. Soon after this, Ashwin reached her room wearing a PPE kit and told her that doctors want to talk to her.
Pretending to take her to the doctors, Ashwin took her in a lift to the fourth floor, which is a deserted floor of the hospital. By the time, the victim realised that it was Ashwin, he tried to misbehave with her. The victim panicked and fled from the scene using the staircase.
The victim in covid patient assault incident has alleged that even after complaining against the accused to the hospital officials, they did not take any action against him. The victim said that the doctors turned her down saying that her plaint will be only considered next day morning. The Police recorded the statement of the woman the same day and will again record a detailed statement on Monday
The woman and her parents were admitted to the same day as they tested positive for COVID-19. The woman had even requested the hospital authorities that her parents should be allowed to stay in the same room as her father is a heart patient.
