Yash Raj Films have come to be associated with a certain brand of commercial cinema. For them to produce a hard boiled docu drama like ‘Kabul Express’ has come as a pleasant surprise. Directed by well known documentary filmmaker Kabir Khan, starring John Abraham and Arshad Warsi, ‘Kabul Express’ has been selected in the Special Presentations Programme at the 31st Toronto International Film Festival being held from September 7 – 16 this year.

The Toronto selectors have described ‘Kabul Express’ as “An important breakthrough for India Cinema”. The film will hold its world premiere at the red carpet presentation for ‘Artistic And Daring Cinema From Around The World’. ‘Kabul Express’ is set in post 9/11 war torn Kabul.

It brings together John Abraham and Arshad Warsi as TV Journalists who go to Kabul in search of the ultimate news coup – meeting the Taliban. This is the first international feature film to have been entirely shot in post Taliban Afghanistan. “The country was not just a location for filming; it was a character in the film,” signs off Kabir Khan.

"John Abraham. Arshad Warsi. And Taliban. Kabul Express is making waves even before its release"
