Vishal-Shekhar have made a good start to year 2007 with Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd. with some peppy-n-feel-good numbers that make you feel nice about yourself. The best tracks amongst the lot are the romantic Halke Halke and the wonderfully cheerful Sajanji Vaari Vaari. Jaane Hai Woh Kahan and Pyaar ki Yeh Kahaani have a slight heard-before feel, yet they impress with exceptional singing and fantastic music arrangements-n-production-values. Albela Albela is a mad number with great attitude. The Halke Halke Remix is a stylish retro number that makes you feel special too. The instrumental Haath Dhore Niye Chalo is the only sore thumb in this can-surely-buy album. And yes, Javed Akhtar is in great form while writing quality crispy lyrics. Enjoy!
The traditional tabla, dholak and sheer colourful rusticity or in other words a typical Rajasthani flavour greets you first up as Sunidhi Chauhan goes. Sajanji Vaari Vaari in an up tempo mode. And then suddenly, a high-on-bass rhythm progression hits you from nowhere. You go wow! That's impressive. The range of music arrangements and the energetic manner it's been put together makes you go shaking your shoulders in delight. Sajanji Vaari Vaari has everything going right for it to make it to the chartbuster list both in the ego-boosting-discs as well as the local marriage parties in downtown suburbs. Oye Hoye...!!!
Jaane Hai Woh Kahan is made special because of Shreya Ghoshal's smooth-n-polished vocals and fantastic music arrangements. But as a composition, it doesn't have anything new to offer. The melody lacks the novelty value yet it is compensated by a neat sounding bassed-up-rhythm designing, tender piano fillers, tingling flute piece in the middle and an innate honesty in Shreya's vocals. Shaan sings his part well too. Nothing out of the world, but surely a worthy number nevertheless!
I don't know why..goes rocker Vishal Dadlani in a true blue We will we will rock you mould..Khusbhu Ki Pariyan Udne Lagi Hain..goes Shankar Mahadevan..Albela Albela Ithlaata Hai mann nayi nayi si hai zindagi.Well, must say, it's a good experimentation in the genre of genuine rock ballad. The electric guitar riffs, diametrically opposite vocals of screechy (sounds fine alright) Vishal Dadlani coupled with sedate Shankar and spunky as `Pudine-ki-chatni' flavour in Javed Akhtar's lyrics makes Albela Albela a lively track. I do have a feeling though that it has a limited market till the yuppy crowd and may not be well received by everybody. Fun number nevertheless.
In lamhon ki har daali par khil gaye..Bhool gayi jab dil se dil mil gaye..aankhen aankhon se kehne lagi hain..Ek nai daastaan..halke halke rang chalke...jaane ab kya hone ko hai...Javed Akhtar is back after his `Umrao Jaan' disaster..Back to writing simple verse that comes naturally to him. And the effect is super too. Halke Halke is also made distinctive by Neeraj Shreedhar's singing. He impressed one-n-all a few days ago in Baat Pakki in Just Married. But there he had jammed with Shaan while here he has a fantastic solo to his credit. The tremulous acoustic guitar that starts off the song sustains till the end giving this delightful soft rock number an ethereal feel. Best part about Neeraj's singing is that he never tries too hard and knows his limitations well. The colours of romance effortlessly enter your system making you feel good about life as the piano fillers gently fade away into the night. Halke Halke is one of the better romantic songs I've heard in recent times. Highly recommended!
