Popular theatre and film actor Kainakary Thankaraj, who had been getting treated for liver-related ailments for a long time, passed away at his residence in Keralapuram on Sunday night, April 3. He was 77.
Once a prominent presence in theatres, Thankaraj made his acting debut with the Prem Nazir starrer film ‘Aana Paachan’ which was released in the year 1978. Later, he had acted in films such as Acharam Ammini Osharam Omana, Itha oru Manushyan. Having acted in over 35 films, the veteran actor gained much fame and acclaim for his performance in movies such as Lucifer, Ea Ma Yau and Home, which was his last movie. The ‘Home’ director Rojin Thomas took to his official Instagram handle and shared a still from the film as a tribute to the actor Kainakary Thankaraj. “ Soul of Our #HOME #KAINAKARITHANKARAJ (appachan) You are always loved and never forgotten," he penned.
Several prominent Mollywood actors including Mohanlal and Mammootty took to their official Facebook handle to extend their tribute to the ace actor Kainakary Thankaraj. The legendary actor last worked in Lijo Jose Pellissery's upcoming movie 'Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam' starring Mammootty. The movie is slated to release soon.
