Home Minister went in for Haritha Haram, got Covid: Will politicians learn?

Soon after the news of Telangana Home Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali testing positive for COVID-19 came out on Monday morning, there has been a hue and cry over the continued negligence among political leaders. Earlier, three MLAs of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) had contracted the virus.

Social media users are saying that Ali was undoubtedly negligent. On June 25, the HM took part in the KCR government's Haritha Haram initiative. The plantation programme also saw the presence of top police officials.

This is not all. Such incidents have been recurring. "At least after the senior minister of Telangana cabinet testing positive, there must be a rethink on any social or political gatherings like Haritha Haram or even protests (fuel hike protests). Ministers are still holding physical press conferences and top bureaucrats doing events," laments senior journalist Uma Sudhir.

Politicians across the country should give serious thought to this.

Meanwhile, the Home Minister's health condition is stable.
