'Salaar: Part 1 - Ceasefire' is scheduled to debut in cinemas on December 22, 2023, under the direction of Prashanth Neel. The film boasts Prabhas, Shruthi Haasan, and Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead roles. Salaar is poised for a monumental showdown at the global box office, setting the stage for a clash with Shah Rukh Khan's Dunki, releasing on December 21, 2023.
Fans have been fervently advocating for their preferred film since the beginning, but Vijay Kirgandur, the producer of Salaar from Hombale Films, addressed the potential competition between the two movies. In an interview with Bollywood magazine, Kirgandur emphasized the aim to avoid conflict, stating, “We are engaging in discussions with exhibitors and distributors.
A solo release typically secures 60-70 percent occupancy, but between Salaar and Dunki, our aim is to attain a 50-50 screen allocation, reaching a 90-100 percent occupancy rate, benefiting both films in the best-case scenario.”
He further explained the strategy, mentioning, “Even if we secure more screens, the occupancy may reduce to 60-70 percent. Our focus is on optimizing occupancy, even if we have fewer screens than a solo Salaar release. Similar discussions are ongoing overseas. We are concentrating on programming without engaging in conflicts.”
Regarding the film's release date, Kirgandur highlighted, “We follow astrological reasons in setting dates. We have been planning this way for 10-12 years, and we announced December 22 without altering it despite 'Dunki' and Aquaman premiering on December 21.”
