Margot Robbie represented her union well while participating in the picket line in support of the ongoing strike organized by the SAG-AFTRA against the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers. Margot Robbie participated in the rally in West Hollywood alongside her fellow actors and picketers.
This time, she wore a huge white T-shirt emblazoned with the words ``SAG-AFTRA on strike!" She wore it as a micro-dress with her tights and brown-tinted circle sunglasses. She had a large picket sign with her and wore chunky white sneakers with it. She was interviewed on Sky News on July 13, and Robbie made it clear that she was 100 percent behind the strike that hit on July 12. She said, "I literally have nothing but admiration for all the unions, and I'm a member of SAG, so I fully support that."
The strike is an unprecedented one, as it is the first time in over six decades that all SAG-AFTRA actors and the Writers Guild of America screenwriters have embarked on a simultaneous strike. Actors are demanding better pay in light of the changing times in the entertainment industry brought about by the streaming of services. They have also expressed their concern about the coming of artificial intelligence in the studios, which could see the loss of no fewer than tens of thousands of jobs.
As President of SAG-AFTRA, Fran Drescher said it so eloquently: "At some point, the jig is up. You cannot keep being dwindled, marginalized, disrespected, and dishonored. The entire business model has been changed by streaming, digital, and AI. This is a moment in history. If we don’t stand tall right now, we are all going to be in trouble."
