Surya seems to be a chosen one in the Tamil film industry.

Some of the best films and stories of recent times have been going to him.

Yesterday was the launch of the Ghajini, the film was that originally written for Ajith.

The film is set to feature Surya in a never-before seen role.

Being produced by Salem Chandrasekhar and directed by Murugadoss, the film's muhurat was a glossy affair much like the promos for the movie.

There are many interesting asides about Surya's character. He plays the role of Sanjay Ramaswamy who is one of the richest persons in the world. He is also person with left-hand habits and has parted the hair on his head on the other side. Asin, the heroine, play the role of Kalpana --- inspired Kalpana Chawla.

Murugadoss says "it's a movie sure to entertain action-lovers. Surya plays an angry young man, which he had never played before. Asin plays his ladylove while Prakash Raj plays the bad guy in the movie."

On the title Ghajini, Murugadoss says, "I felt it was the title that would be apt for the story. I have no regrets going for it. I am not worried about threats that may come from few persons for not going for a Tamil title. I believe that we (film personalities) have every freedom to go for an apt title, be it in Tamil or English".

The movie would be shot in Chennai and a couple of songs in abroad.

Asked on his Mirattal starring Ajith being dropped, Murugadoss says, "it's unfortunate that it could not take off. Anyhow no regrets. Ajith had other commitments and hence the movie could not take off".

But the man of the moment is Surya.
