A mother doing the final rites of her daughter while son is behind the bars and brother drinking the urn of sister so that she can stay with him always are the two new attempts the film `Hat Trick Hodi Magaa' has made. Other wise it is a hopeless film with mindless violence and it tests the patience for slow and laborious style of presentation.

Director P Sathya has gone extreme when it comes to sentiments. It is not heard, read or written that a brother could swallow the urn of his fond sister after he comes back from prison. Instead of immersing it in the water the hero Shivarajakumar with the rain soaked urn in the pot drinks it like milk. Although it shows height of affection it is the height of stupidity.

The hullabaloo the film created for the title battle with the Censor left an impression that this would be a film to watch. Nothing glorious takes places in the film and it is just one more addition to the list of Shivarajakumar films.

A well educated Soorya (Shivarajakumar) comes to his town to settle down. On the day of his arrival he sees the injustice happening. He does not tolerate and on the advice of his mother he keeps quiet. The anger in Soorya does not keep him quiet in another incident where he punishes a dozen in a chain snatching incident. That gives him troubles. Soorya thrashes one of the two opponent sides. Now he is in unnecessary trouble. A series of anti social elements he encounter bring him behind the bars. The anti social elements try to make use of Soorya even in the prison but it goes in vain. The peace is lost in Soorya when his mother is badly ill treated. Back on bail Soorya is not allowed to lead a peaceful life. He finishes the rest of the goons and this time his mother is the witness to the killings of son. Soorya goes behind the bars once again but before that he calls for unity of the people.

Action and Shivarajakumar does not match these days for his lean personality. He should try some intelligence with his physique. The favorite of Shivarajakumar emotions is quite OK. Manju Bhargavi as mother for the first time on Kannada screen makes no difference. Nicollet Bird does not match. She is tall and there is no stuff in her role.

The chilling performances have come from Sharat Lohitashva and Achyuth Rao. Both are punching in dialogue delivery. Pavitra Lokesh as Durgi lacks punch. Dattanna in a short role impresses. Sadhu Kokila is irritating.

Jaasie Gift has given two lively tunes and for the cabaret song he picks the Hindi tune. Cinematography by Ravi PL is absorbing.

Action lovers only can watch this film.
