Exit candy floss drama. Welcome a "reality movie" featuring real life criminals. That's what director Nabh Kumar Raju says in his upcoming flick 'HITLIST'.
Erstwhile Sorraj Barjatya assistant 'Raju', who started his career by directing 'Hum Aapke Hain Kaun' clone 'Hum Tum Pe Marte Hain' [Govinda, Urmila Matondkar, Dimple Kapadia] a few years back has now donned a different hat. He now comes up with a hard hitting story on the lives and functioning of criminals, titled 'Hitlist'.
So one may ask what's different in this? After all there have been number of movies made on gangsters, petty criminals, smugglers and larger than life dons in the past! Well, Raju has decided to it differently as for 'Hitlist', he has followed a unique mechanism to constitute the movie's starcast. The sole condition for every person who wants to act in the movie is - "They should have a criminal record behind them".
Shocking as it may sound, but the fact is that he has already roped in "actors" for his movie after auditioning 700 people out of total 3000 who applied for the "job". Each of them were asked a simple question - "Have you ever attempted any crime?".
As per Raju, 'Hitlist' also touches upon the lives of various celebrities, politicians and businessmen. A reality movie of a kind, it has references to real life incidents and people, most notably being Bharatbhai, RR Patil and LK Advani. Supposedly these men are supposed to be on the "hitlist" of the 6 characters in the movie. Another "real" sequence in the movie is that of builder Mahesh Dholakia's murder.
Incidentally, between 'Hum Tumpe Marte Hain' and 'Hitlist', Raju has made some small time movies like 'Chot' and 'Topless'. He may not have received any success or acclaim in any of his earlier movies but 'Hitlist' may just about manage to get him some mileage!
Following are some of the "actors" who have dreams in their eyes to reach the top of stardom:
Akbar from Bhendi Bazaar: He has committed a minor theft. He plays the role of thief in the movie and is called "Illyas Dubai".
Om Prakash from Chattisgarh: He is aware about the operations of druglords. He plays the role of a drug peddler and is called "Laloo Nepali"
