'HIT: The First Case': Hindi remake off to an unsteady start

In 2020, the Hindi remake of Anushka Shetty's 'Bhaagamathie' received negative reviews when it was released on OTT. 'Durgavati' was its title and Bhumi Pednekar was its heroine. A theatrical release would have resulted in losses to the tune of several crores. Recently, Shahid Kapoor's 'Jersey' had to eat the humble pie. The 'Jersey' remake couldn't recover its investment. The Hindi remake of Nani's 'MCA', too, flopped miserably. Unlike 'Durgavati' and 'Jersey', 'Nikamma' didn't feature any notable face. Its failure was not a surprise.

And a fourth flop remake is here. 'HIT: The First Case' reportedly made Rs 1.35 Cr (Nett) in India on Day 1 (Friday). A lion's share came from PVR, INOX, and Cinepolis.

Trade analysts are of the opinion that the mystery thriller, fronted by Rajkummar Rao, needs to register amazing footfalls for it to recover costs. Bhushan Kumar, our own Dil Raju, Krishan Kumar, and Kuldeep Rathore have produced it.

If 'HIT' flops in Hindi, it will be set back to the remakes trend in Bollywood at least to an extent.
