When Sailesh Kolanu-directed 'HIT: The First Case', which is the Hindi-language remake of Vishwak Sen-starrer 'HIT: The First Case', was released on July 15, many presumed that the movie was going to be a flop. But the Rajkummar Rao and Sanya Malhotra-starrer has actually fetched its producers profits.
The mystery thriller was made on a budget of Rs 37 Cr, which also includes the crores of rupees spent in promoting it. The producers, one of whom is Dil Raju, released the movie in theatres by themselves without depending on external distributors. While the openings were weak, the film went on to do well at the box office by grossing Rs 12.75 Cr.
The non-theatrical revenues were very impressive. It may be noted that 'HIT' is doing extremely well on Netflix. The streaming giant is happy with the traction.
From both theatrical and non-theatrical revenues, 'HIT' ended up giving its producers a profit of up to Rs 6 Cr. The Bollywood remake has proven to be a wise idea.
