Last year on New Year's eve, there were three films that had released - 'Raat Gayi Baat Gayi', 'Accident on Hill Road' and 'Bolo Raam'. As expected, all the three films were failures at the box office. The reason was simple - audience which is expected to step into a multiplex over a New Year weekend would rather be partying out. And then post the festivities, there are always withdrawal symptoms with none expected to gather one's energy all over again and watch a film.

The same was expected for the last releases of 2010 as well when three films were announced for 31st December arrival - 'Tera Kya Hoga Johny', 'Ada...a way of Life' and 'Bhoot And Friends'. It was crystal clear that none of the films would manage many foot falls.

The makers of 'Tera Kya Hoga Johny' too realised that at the last minute and have now postponed the film indefinitely owing to 'unfavourable market conditions'. As of now, there is total uncertainty around if this Neil Nitin Mukesh and Soha Ali Khan will ever see a release for itself.

'Ada... a way of life' is a very old 'stuck in the cans' film which was actually supposed to release last week. Now this is the fifth or the sixth time that a release date has been announced for this Nauheed Cyrusi starrer where the only star attraction is AR Rahman who has composed the music. It won't be surprising though if there is yet another delay in the film's release.

As for 'Bhoot And Friends', it is surprising that the makers are really bringing this film in theaters now. A follow up to 'Jackie Shroff's 'Bhoot Unkle' (which in any case was a theatrical flop), the film is arriving without any fanfare whatsoever and seeing an extremely sparse release. A poor release timing will only prove to be a final nail in the coffin.
