'Roudram Ranam Rudhiram' is back in the news for a controversial reason. Last year, when Jr NTR's look was released, Gond tribals objected to the depiction of Komaram Bheem as a Muslim in the film. And now, after the release of Alia Bhatt's look, the magnum opus has become the target of some Hindutva-leaning Internet users.
Alia is playing a character by the name of Sita in the movie. Wearing a saree and sporting a bindi, she has got a semi-divine look in the recently-released poster. Many have started presuming that 'RRR' is a mythological movie where the Bollywood actress is playing the role of Goddess Sita.
The film, however, is a fictional historical movie where Sita is the romantic interest of freedom fighter Alluri Seetharama Raju (played by Ram Charan).
A Twitter user said that if a filmmaker wants to cast an actor in the role of a Hindu goddess/god, he has to make sure that the actor is a subscriber of Dharma. Alia Bhatt's father Mahesh Bhatt is perceived by Hindutva-leaning Netizens as a supporter of Islamic radicalism for whatever reason.
On the other hand, several supporters of Alia are of the view that there is no proof that Alia doesn't have faith in Hindu Gods. She recently prayed at a Shiva temple on Maha Shivaratri after testing negative for coronavirus.
Hey Bollywood If you're making a movie on my faith, make sure you use the actors who believe in my faith. Daughter of a Hinduphobe cannot be my Sita! pic.twitter.com/AZXpzzjvxo
