'Hindu' was coined by foreigners: Kamal Haasan

Days after branding Nathuram Godse as a Hindu terrorist, Kamal Haasan feels that the very word "Hindu" is of foreign origin and therefore it should not be used by us to describe ourselves.
The actor-politician says that the term "Hindu" was coined by Mughals or the foreign rulers who lived before them. The British, who came later, endorsed the word. Kamal feels that the word "Indian" would be the appropriate one to be used as an identity marker. "Let's not confine our vast country into religion," Kamal exhorted.
The 'Indian-2' actor has been abused and ridiculed on social media ever since he made the remarks about Godse.
