Hindu or Christian?: Meaningless campaign against Pawan Kalyan

Pawan Kalyan on Tuesday announced that he will be observing certain rituals related to Karthika Masam, the auspicious month in the Hindu religion. This announcement has apparently not gone down well with some sections of media who are incorrigibly against Jana Sena and its leader.

As per them, Pawan is following Hindu rituals only because he wants to woo Hindutva-inclined voters. For one, Pawan has always been a theist and a religious person. He has been participating in Lord Shiva-related public rituals for some years in Hyderabad. His observing Karthika Masam rituals has nothing to do with vote-bank politics, it appears.

Another point that is held against Pawan is that he has changed his tune after elections. As per his critics, Pawan highlighted the fact that his wife Anna is a Christian and how his children have been brought up as Christians in pre-election speeches.

Pray, where is he changing his tune? Pawan never said that he is a Christian. He only said that, as an all-embracing Hindu, he has no problem whatsoever with the faith of his wife.

It's a big lie to say that Pawan previously said he doesn't believe in religious and caste systems. If anything, he repeatedly said that caste can't be wished away in Indian society. For a politician to say this honestly, it's good. Pawan only said that he doesn't personally believe in the limited identities of religion and caste.
