'Kaithi' ('Khaidi' in Telugu), starring Karthi, released last Diwali and became a big hit in both Tamil and Telugu. The news is that the action flick will be remade in Hindi. Dream Warrior Pictures and Reliance Entertainment have joined hands for the production venture.

"This one is a pure action film whose intensity is not marred by unnecessary elements. There are no songs, no heroine," the makers have said, announcing the collaboration. Reliance Entertainment said, "This film is a gripping thriller that is a tribute to the celebrated cops-and-criminals actioners. Yet, it is beyond them."

Producer SR Prabhu said, "The original turned out to be a delightful blockbuster among the family audience in the South. We will make it in Hindi as a high-octane film to entertain the pan-India audience."

The remake's cast and crew details are yet to be announced.
