Because of the poor box office performance of potential blockbusters like 'Laal Singh Chaddha' and 'Raksha Bandhan', people have started speculating whether the Hindi cinema is on a downward slope slipping towards its doom. However, several actors and filmmakers have stated that it is just a bad phase for cinema right now and things will get better soon.
Seasoned actor Manoj Bajpayee, who also shares similar sentiments, recently told Bollywood Bubble, "Sometimes, we make too much out of a bad phase. Cinema cannot die. Hindi cinema will not die. It will course-correct and come back to its normal self. The pre-pandemic phase won’t be there. Some new exciting phases of Hindi cinema will be there.”
When asked whether there is something fundamentally wrong or lacking in Bollywood, Manoj stated, "No, we don’t lack anything. We have been entertaining for so many decades. Just course correction is needed. People are intelligent enough. Some new directions and fine actors are coming.”
