In an unfortunate event, around 150 people are feared dead in northern India following a Himalayan glacier burst and it's subsequent crash into a dam yesterday. This caused floods which lead to evacuation of villages.
As said by the chief secretary of Uttarakhand state, (where the incident occurred) Om Prakash, the actual number of deaths has not been confirmed yet and around 100 to 150 people are feared dead
Said by locals, an avalanche roared down the river valley and there was no time for people to escape or run. It has been suspected that people who were working at a hydro-power project nearby might have been swept away, alongside people who were in the locality for grazing. PM Narendra Modi said that he's closely monitoring the situation, and prayed for the safety of people in Uttrakhand.
