The week gone by has seen some most interesting developments. The past few days will be most remembered for the Supreme Court delivering important judgements. In the entertainment industry, too, a couple of positive developments have taken place.
Sabarimala verdict allows women an entry
In a big verdict that has disappointed the orthodox sections, the Supreme Court has said that women of all ages can enter the famous Sabarimala temple in Kerala. "The practice of barring women in age group of 10-50 to go inside the temple is violative of constitutional principles," Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra wrote in the landmark verdict.
SC to start Ayodhya hearings soon
From October 29, a three-judge bench will hear the Ayodhya review petition related to the Ram Janmabhoomi land dispute. The Supreme Court said that it won't review its 1994 order where it stated that mosques are not integral to Islam.
The ruling has been seen by political commentators as a good news for the ruling BJP.
Aadhar rules changed by SC
The Supreme Court ruled that the Aadhaar scheme is Constitutionally valid. Further, it gave several important directives. "There is no need to link bank accounts and mobile numbers to Aadhar," the SC said. However, the Aadhar card is mandatory for PAN linking as well as for filing Income Tax return. Individuals and corporates cannot collect Aadhar data from now. Illegal immigrants become ineligible to get Aadhar card. Aadhar is now NOT compulsory for school admissions. "No person can be denied any state benefit only due to the absence of Aadhar," the SC noted.
Allu Arjun's new office comes into being:
Allu Arjun, who was operating out of Geetha Arts' office till recently, now has a new office of his own. The name of the new center is 'AA'. It's like the actor's signature brand to use the initials nowadays. It's said that Bunny has chosen to opt for a solo office at a time when Geetha Arts and GA2 Pictures are into producing medium-range films.
Rahman's song becomes big hit:
'Simtaangaram' is the song. It's from the Tamil movie 'Sarkar', starring Vijay. The peppy number has attracted even non-Tamil music lovers. The song has been a monstrous hit. What about the charge that it's not good? AR Rahman has changed his style. And even many of the critics of the song have since started arguing that it's a slow poison.
'Thugs Of Hindostan' trailer becomes a rage:
Why wouldn't it become a stupendous hit? Starring Amitabh Bachchan and Aamir as adventurous thugs, the Hindi film's trailer has stunned many with its visuals. In terms of views, it clocked 27 million views in 24 hours.
Came the news that it will have a big release in Telugu and Tamil, too. The Khan-Bachchan duo, however, have been slammed for doing a supposedly non-original movie. For example, critics feel Aamir's role is a copy of Jack Sparrow from 'Pirates of Carribean'.
Tanushree Dutta starts a mini-movement:
Tanushree Dutta, who stopped acting years ago, started embarrassing her former harassers. Nana Patekar, she said, had tormented her in 2008. A journo joined her battle and said that Nana indeed had forced his producer to make the actress dance with her for a lewd song. He touched her like a pervert, many reports said. Tanushree followed it up with the charge that director Vivek Agnihotri had asked her to remove her clothes and dance in 2004.
Samantha raises middle finger:
Samantha posted a hot holiday pic. Clad in a red bikini, she piqued misogynists, who advised her to be like Rama Lakshmi in 'Rangasthalam'. Trolled incessantly, she raised her middle finger in a post. Nobody can tell me how to live just because I am married, she spoke calmly and firmly.
