Long gone are the days when villains used to demand better fees than heroes and command the spotlight. The times have changed to such an extent in this day and age that villains have started playing an equally significant role and sometimes overrode the role of a hero. Most of the villains started demanding fees on par with the heroes. The highest-paid villain in Indian cinema, Yash, has reportedly taken 150 crores of INR for his present movie.

And here we are, with Yash entering Bollywood to play Ravana in Ramayana, sharing the screen with the likes of Ranbir Kapoor for Lord Ram and South Indian actress Sai Pallavi for Sita. With this debut, it looks like Yash will become the king of hits and have a humongous fan base yet again. According to some reports, he broke all records for the fee quoted for the portrayal of Ravana.

History has it; what isn’t starting while being a part of the package includes records by actors like Kamal Haasan, who took Rs. 25 crore for the character of his Kalki 2898 AD, and Vijay Sethupathi, who apparently pocketed Rs 21 crore for the film Jawan. Other headliners on the highly-paid villain list include Saif Ali Khan, Emraan Hashmi, Sanjay Dutt, and Fahadh Faasil, who charged a fortune for their respective roles.

Other than 'Ramayana', Yash is also doing 'KGF 3', whose director will be Prashanth Neel, starting its shooting in 2025. Aside from that, he is also coming to 'Toxics', probably in the same year. However, it is also increasing the possibility of Yash rising as a paid villain in the changing dynamics of Indian cinema, where villains are no longer overshadowed but celebrated alongside the lead.
