Mammootty, known for his meticulous presentations in classic historical characters, has signed for another one after Vadakkan Veeragatha.

In one of the biggest projects announced in Malluwood, Mammootty will play the title role of Payyamvelli Chanthu, the heroic character from Vadakkan Pattukal. The legendary team which once gave the film Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha, is going to produce this movie. The film is planned to release on Vishu 2007.

Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha, the epic film of 1989, was one of the biggest grosser ever and had earned many awards world wide including that of the National Best actor for Mammootty.
