Dhanush, prominent actor and the Producer of recent super hit and critically acclaimed film Kaakka Muttai` received good news from Madras High Court yesterday which was his 32n birthday.
The HC bench headed by Justice P.N.Prakash stayed all legal proceedings against Dhanush, director, Vetrimaran who is another producer of the film, the film`s director Manikanadan and actress Aishwarya Rajesh who acted in a pivotal role in the film as they have been dragged to a legal tussle by Manivannan claiming to be an advocate.
Manivannan had filed a petition in the metropolitan magistrate court in Egmore in which he stated that a particular scene in the film insulted the advocate profession and advocates at large and requested legal action against the film`s producers, director and the actor who acted in the particular scene. The metropolitan magistrate had issued summons to Dhanush, Vetrimaran, Manikanadan and Aishwarya Rajesh to appear in the court in connection to this complaint.
Dhanush and others had appealed in the Madras High Court to quash the proceedings against them. They had citied in their petition that the film has been certified by a competent authority (Censor Board) for public viewing and criminal complaints cannot be misused to harass celebrities.
Accepting these points in the petition of the Kaakka Muttai` team, the HC judge stayed the proceedings against them in relation to this complaint, an order which brings them an interim relief.
