Quashing a petition filed by Tamil Nadu Telugu Yuva Sangham's Kethi Reddy, the Telangana High Court on Tuesday cleared all decks for the release of 'Sye Raa'. The petition had argued that 'Sye Raa' was touted to be a biopic but that the film distorts history.
The court opined that a film has to be viewed as a source of entertainment. Refusing to interfere, it held that the film will release as planned, suggesting that accurate telling of great lives has not been done always in the past. The court is learned to have made a mention of films like 'Gandhi' and those on the medieval kings such as the Mughals in arguing that accurate depiction of events and lives has never been there.
It said that it should be left to the audience to like or dislike a movie.
Directed by Surender Reddy and starring Megastar Chiranjeevi as Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy, 'Sye Raa' will release tomorrow (October 2).
