Actress Amala Paul had allegedly bought a luxury car priced above 1 Crore rupees and registered it in Pondicherry using a fabricated address which helped her evade taxes to the tune of around 20 Lakhs.  The Kerala crime branch had summoned her on December 19th but she failed to appear due to prior commitments.

An FIR was filed and Amala Paul had sought anticipatory bail from the Kerala High Court during the hearing of which the judge ordered her to appear in person at the Trivandrum crime branch office between 10 am and 1pm on the 15th of January.  The judge had also stated that Amala's bail application will be considered after 10 days making it imperative that she appears without fail.
