High Court issues notices to Vishal after petition to stop release of 'Chakra'

Vishal's soon-to-be-streamed OTT release, 'Chakra', has run into trouble. A production house named Trident Arts has moved the Madras High Court against the film.
Here are the details of the case. Trident Arts has reportedly accused Vishal of not paying dues to the tune of Rs 8 Cr over heavy financial losses suffered by his previous film, 'Action'. Trident Arts had produced 'Action' with Sundar C as director and Vishal as the hero at a cost of Rs 44 Cr.
Allegedly, the budget was too much for the production house. So, Vishal told Trident Arts that he will compensate them suitably if the film collects less than Rs 20 Cr. What was the fate of the film? It was a colossal flop.
It collected just Rs 7.7 Cr in Tamil Nadu, and another Rs 4 Cr in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, as claimed by the petition by Trident Arts.
Trident Arts has told the Madra HC that Vishal agreed to act one in more movie directed by MS Anandan. And that movie was supposed to be 'Chakra', which Vishal has made under his own production house. Trident Arts claimed in the petition that the script of 'Chakra' was the same which they planned to produce and have urged the court to stay the OTT release of the movie.
Trident Arts wants Vishal to cough up Rs 8 Cr.
Returnable notices to actor Vishal and director MS Anandan have been issued by the High Court.
