Actor Suriya has recently shared a strong statement against the NEET exams on social media, after the suicide of three students. The actor in his statement mentioned that it was painful to see the students forced to prove themselves by appearing for exams during the coronavirus pandemic.
After the sensational statement by Suriya, Justice SM Subramaniam had immediately written to the Madras HC bench to initiate contempt of court proceedings against the actor, and following this Chief Justice AP Sahi rejected Justice SM Subramaniam’s request to initiate the proceedings against Suriya.
Responding to the High Court's rejection of proceedings against him, Suriya posted a note "I'm deeply moved by the institutional magnanimity of the Indian Judiciary. I have always held out judiciary in the highest esteem, which is the only hope for upholding the constitutional rights of our people. I'm humbled and inspired by the fairness and justice demonstrated by the Hon'ble High Court of Madras."
