'High Alert',like its title suggests attempts an engaging high alert thriller weaving the common place with the bizarre. The movie unfolds on a Ganesh Mahotsav Day at the Thiruvananthapuram city. A high alert has been declared on the day with a looming terrorist threat. There is vigil everywhere.
This day becomes pivotal in the narrative. Sreeram is an ordinary citizen, who in in the rat race to survive in the city. Four of his friends from his home town, decide to meet him that day and celebrate Ganeshotsav. The festival also invites a few miscreants. Some pickpocketers too are in the midst. Things take a turn when a murder happens in between and all these people gets embroiled in it. The solving of this murder mystery forms the rest of the plot.
It is here that DCP Bhuvaneshwari played by Anjana Menon appears in top form as she cracks the case long with the four friends. The movie is crisp as a thriller and moments of intrigue has been well presented. Emotional drama has been left out, instead, adding to the racy feel is comedy,which provides a smooth topping. There is an intermingling of connections, unraveling like a loose yarn. Anjana Menon stands out in her portrayl of the police officer Bhuvaneshwari. Though the movie doesn't boast of a star cast, all the actors including Anoop Chandran, Kalabhava Shajoon and the others are competent.
'High Alert' has been directed by Telugu hit maker Chandra Mohan who makes his Mollywood debut with this movie. The movie has been made in many languages simultaneously and has even entered the records. Those who enjoy racy films will find the movie interesting. 'High Alert' is not over the top. Its familiarity is an interesting aspect and keeps it grounded. Th emovie sure is a passably good thrilling watch. Rating - 2.5/5
