Wamiqa Gabbi of Bhale Manchi Roju fame may not have grabbed enough eyeballs with her debut Telugu film, but after her forthcoming film, Nannu Vadili Neevu Polevule, she could become one of the most sought-after actresses. Saying that the film revolves around her, she says that she plays a complicated girl in the film. Written and directed by Geethanjali Sri Raghava (wife of Sri Raghava of 7/G Brundavana Colony, Adavari Matalaku Ardale Verule, Yuganiki Okkadu fame), the film has Kola Balakrishna, the son of editor Kola Bhaskar, playing the main lead.
It`s the dubbed version of Maalai Nerathu Mayakkam, the Tamil film.
'This is the first South Indian movie that I was offered. I rejected the offer when it came first. I was reluctant to act in a Southern film because of the language barrier. I never imagined acting in a South Indian film. But when someone called me once again after 3 months, I grudgingly gave an audition. That`s it. Next day, I was shooting for the film. On the first day when I watched the film in a Chennai theatre, I was surprised to receive a standing ovation from the front benchers after the film was over. The crowd knew that I was there. It was a very proud moment,' says the fledgling actress.
She has a Malayalam film lined up. A sports comedy, she is playing a Punjabi girl in it.
