Heroine
After much hurdles and delays, Madhur Bhandarkar has made his dream project come alive. `Heroine', which was initially started with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, has been now brought out with Kareena Kapoor in the lead role after the former dropped the project owing to her pregnancy.
UTV and director Madhur Bhandarkar are associating again post the hugely successful film `Fashion' that swept the box office and the major awards, winning National Awards and Filmfares for its lead actresses Priyanka Chopra and Kangna Ranaut. `Heroine' sees Bollywood's number one heroine Kareena Kapoor essaying the character of a superstar in B-town and her journey.
As with any Madhur film, `Heroine' promises a fascinating insider's account; this time about life on top of the movie business today. Known for his amazing collaborations with some of the top heroines of the last decade, interestingly this is the first time Madhur is working with Kareena - and their pairing should create magic.
The project also marks 10 years of Madhur Bhandarkar's critical and commercial success in which he made cult films and big entertainers like `Chandni Bar', `Satta', `Page 3', `Corporate', `Fashion' and `Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji'. Madhur, who has already seen his movies bag 11 National Awards, considers Heroine to be his biggest film to date.
`Heroine', a co-production of UTV Motion Pictures and Bhandarkar Entertainment, boasts of some of the top names from the industry in its team. India's most celebrated fashion designer Manish Malhotra has done Kareena's costumes and styling. Music director duo Salim-Sulaiman are on board, churning out some of the biggest chartbusters of 2012, with "Halkat Jawani" already in the list.
The casting of the film has also been the talk of the town with the dashing Arjun Rampal being paired in the role of a superstar opposite Kareena. Strong actors Randeep Hooda and Shahana Goswami are also among the cast of the film.
`Heroine' captures the cinema halls from 21st of September 2012
