Here's an update on Mammootty's 'Maamangam'

Mammootty who had starred in a couple of historical films in his career such as Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha and Pazhassi Raja, has been roped in to play the lead role in yet another period flick that is to be directed by Sajeev Pillai, a former associate of the legendary director Adoor Gopalakrishnan. 

Ever since the movie was announced, audience have been eagerly awaiting for more updates. Now, the latest that we hear is the movie will go on floors in 2018 February, in Mangalapuram. 

The film which is based on the Mamangam festival that was celebrated during the 17th century will feature Mammootty in the role of a warrior. As the film involves a lot of Kalaripayattu and sword fighting scenes, Mammootty is likely to take up training in the traditional martial art of Kerala. Produced by Venu Kunnampilly, an official announcement on the details about the rest of the star cast and crew will be made soon.
