Here is why Nagarjuna's 'Wild Dog' might be criticized

'Wild Dog' is all set to hit the screens on April 2. When it releases this Friday, the action thriller, in which Nagarjuna has played the role of an ACP named Vijay Varma, will most likely receive flak from a section of film critics and cine-goers.

In the trailer of the movie, Nag's character is presented as a trigger-happy cop who, besides using the forbidden 'MC' word, kills terror suspects at will. In the film, the key plot point concerns a terror mastermind who has escaped to Nepal after triggering a bomb blast in an Indian city. Vijay Varma's NIA team launches a covert operation to trace him with the help of RAW agents in Nepal. One of the RAW agents is played by Saiyami Kher.

It has to be seen whether the mastermind will be caught and convicted after due process of law is followed. Such a thing would be seen as a dull thing in an action thriller. If the mastermind is eliminated in an encounter by Nagarjuna's character, 'Wild Dog' will be more in the realm of a masala film rather than a slice-of-life film.

It will be interesting to see the climax of the movie. Going by the trailer, Vijay Varma doesn't give two hoots for the due process, something that will trigger a section of film critics, especially those in the national media, who have always raised a voice against the glamourization and normalization of encounter killings.
