Renowned singer Chinmayi Sripada is in the news for blindly believing in a fake piece of news. Taking to Twitter, the outspoken celebrity most recently shared a news item that says that a cop in Uttar Pradesh inhumanly demanded sexual favour from a gang-rape victim. It was established long ago that the cop was not in the wrong.
"It is not expected of celebrities to post #FakeNews of 2017 in 2019. The victim had lodged a fake gang-rape case which the Sub-Inspector had exposed. Hence, her allegation was vengeful. The charges against the SI were found to be false after proper investigation and voice sampling test," the official handle of the UP Police stated.
Correcting herself, the singer said on Thursday that she is sorry for having shared the false news. "I sincerely apologize for the tweet and appreciate you took the effort to reply. I share such reports (and I will continue to do so) only with the intention of helping people without a voice or influence. I am deleting the tweet," Chinmayi wrote.
