Swiggy, one of the most-used food delivery apps, has sparked the ire of several BJP supporters on social media. This has something to do with the ongoing farmers' protest in Punjab.

It all began with a parody account saying this: "Had an argument with my Bhakt friend over farmers protest. He said that we are not dependent on farmers for food. We can always order food from Swiggy. He won." By Bhakt, the handle meant to refer to die-hard BJP supporters. The tweet clearly satirized the alleged lack of knowledge among BJP supporters.

Swiggy's official Twitter handle replied to the above tweet with this message: "Sorry, we can't refund education". Clearly, the sarcastic reply has political overtones.

Thousands of supporters of Narendra Modi have since lashed out at Swiggy. They have called for its boycott for belittling them.

Intellectual reactions:

Political commentator Vikas Saraswat opined that taking swipes at one political party and one ideology is something some people are itching for. "Imagine the desperation. Responding to a parody account just to vent the itch," he wrote.

Political consultant Rohan Sachdeva sees it as nothing but woke capitalism at play. "Nice to see that woke capitalism has finally arrived in India in full force. The ironic part is that these are antics that are part of a larger marketing strategy whose target audience swears by its opposition to capitalism & free markets," he wrote.
