Is OTT the next big thing? If we have followed the developments in the last few days, we would think so. Nani-Sudheer Babu's 'V' is heading for a release on Amazon Prime Video on September 5. Suriya's 'Aakasam Nee Haddu Raa' will release on the same on October 30. More than half a dozen Telugu and Tamil movies are ready for a direct OTT release in the coming months.
What does SS Rajamouli think about the future of OTT? Speaking to a TV channel, the 'Baahubali' maker said that OTT's prospects are good in the near future. He, however, suggested that there is no replacing theatres. "Even before coronavirus, OTT was slowly coming up. But with social gatherings having become impossible and the government scared to permit theatres, OTT is gaining a little more. But, in my opinion, once people overcome the fear of coronavirus, theatres will be re-opened," the 'RRR' director added.
"Once theatres are opened, whichever big-ticket movie that has got craze, will see a wave in its favour," Rajamouli predicted.
