In its latest order announcing the extension of lockdown from May 4 till May 17, the Union Home Ministry on Friday said that liquor shops can open in green zones after May 3.
"Liquor stores and paan shops will be allowed to function in green zones while ensuring minimum six feet distance from each other and ensuring that not more 5 persons are present at one time at the shop," the order says.
What about red and orange zones? Liquor shops in these zones can open if they don't fall in containment pockets.
Many on social media are saying that the government's guidelines are not clear. Some are busy cracking jokes. "If you ensure 6 feet distance from each other, the queue at the liquor shop in a green zone will reach up to a nearest red zone," said Stable Genius on Twitter.
Despite these guidelines, States can decide not to open liquor shops if they think it is necessary.
