Actor Shekhar Suman, who was applauded for his serious roles in films like `Utsav', `Tridev' and `Pati Parmeshwar' and series like `Wah Janab', `Reporter' and `Main' is making his directorial debut with an unusual  romantic medical thriller `Heartless' with Adhyayan Suman in the lead  and Shekhar himself.
 
Interestingly, the film will bring together father-son duo Shekhar and Adhyayan Suman for the first time on the silver screen. Apart from the two Sumans, the film introduces a new girl Ariana Ayam and supported by Deepti Naval, Om Puri and Madan Jain.
 
Speculations were rife that `Heartless' is the remake of 2007 Hollywood flick `Awake'. The film will have Shekar's son Adhyayan in lead role which was played by Hayden Christensen in the original.
 
According to Shekar, the film is based on a never seen before phenomenon of 'anaesthesia awareness', a frightening state where in patients who are administered anaesthesia are conscious from within; they can see, hear and even experience pain while their body remains still.
