Union Cabinet headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi yesterday approved the National Education Policy 2020. The new policy will help bring in transformational reforms in school and higher education systems in the country as said by Ministry of Human Resource Development.
This new policy will replace the 34-year-old National Policy on Education (NPE), 1986. It has been said that the Centre and the state governments will join hands to increase the public investment in the education sector to reach 6% of GDP. Actor and Makkal needhi maiam president Kamal Haasan has now tweeted about this policy and also made an important suggestion on healthcare sector.
Kamal Haasan tweeted "Glad that Education is getting 6% share of GDP in the new education policy. The Immediate focus and reforms needed are in the Healthcare sector now, which gets only 1% of GDP on an average. This share has to be increased to 7-8% if we want to grow as a healthy Nation too."
