Hawala racket busted in Hyderabad ahead of polls

The Hyderabad Task Force police, in collaboration with the Saifabad police, have seized about Rs 7.5 Cr hawala money from a Banjara Hills apartment on Road No. 12 on Wednesday.
Multiple raids were held by the authorities when they came to know that hawala money routed through shell companies was being circulated in Hyderabad this election season in Telangana. The origin of the money is traced to Mumbai and Delhi.
Raj Purohit, Sunil Kumar Ahuja, Ashish Kumar Ahuja, and Mahmood Azam have been arrested. Besides the cash, a Volvo car, a gun, an iPad, a MacBook and others were seized.
It may be noted that the Election Commission has seized Rs 53 crore cash across Telangana so far.
