The volacano at Hawaii’s Big Island, Kilauea shot ash and smoke in to the sky 30,000 feet high on Thursday following which officials have handed over 18,000 masks to the people near the locality. Even though the rain kept the ash from going too far out, the residents of the Big Isalnd have been advised to remain indoors and use the masks.

Officials who compare this to the events that took place in 1924 are suspecting that the volcanic activity will continue to happen. It is also reported that the lava flow from the volcanic activcity has destroyed around 26 homes.

The staff at the volcano observatory has been evacuated as well. In addition to this the USGS geologists have also said that larger and much more powerful events might be expected in the future.

Kilauea is one of five active volcanoes on the island of Hawaii. It is one of the most active in the world and has been erupting continuously for more than 30 years. Watch this space for more updates.
