Manchu Vishnu won the MAA Presidential election on October 13 last year. To celebrate the victory and the completion of the first year in the office, the 'Mosagallu' actor held an event attended by the media personnel.
Speaking on the occasion, Vishnu said that he has fulfilled 90% of the promises he had made before the elections. "When I entered the contest, there was widespread 'alajadi' in the industry," Vishnu said.
The actor-producer, who awaits the theatrical release of 'Ginna' on October 21, said that the rules for the inclusion of new members in MAA have been tightened. Only those artists who have done at least two released movies, and in which they got to be seen for at least five minutes (besides getting to deliver a couple of dialogues), are eligible to be inducted.
He warned that those belonging to the MAA, be they office-holders or members, will be removed from the Association permanently if they take out dharnas/protests or complain in front of the media. "And only those who have completed 5 years of being in MAA are eligible to contest in elections. We have also asked the film producers to enlist only MAA members. The Producers' Council has taken the suggestion into consideration," Vishnu said.
Coming to the important issue of the MAA building, Vishnu said that two proposals are there. "We are coming up with a building 30 minutes away from the Film Nagar. I am also ready to replace the current Film Chamber building and make it a MAA building," Vishnu added.
A MAA App will be brought out by Sankranthi next year.
