Tamil film 'Mersal' hit the screens on Wednesday. The Telugu version, titled 'Adirindhi', is awaited. There is no official word on when it will release, although it was expected to be out on Thursday.

Meanwhile, reports from Chennai say that the big-ticket entertainer has a story that tells a rehashed version of Kamal Haasan's critically-acclaimed 'Vichithra Sodarulu'. This dubbed version of 'Apoorva Sagodharagal' (1989) tells the story of brothers separated at birth. Their father gets killed by the villains. When they grow up, Appu, a dwarf character immortalized by Kamal, seeks to avenge his parent's murder.

'Adirindhi' is said to have a storyline that resembles this. Instead of the circus entertainer's character, one of the three Vijays is a magician in Paris. And, it seems, a not-so-short flashback in the second half is an Atlee innovation.

Unlike 'Vichithra Sodarulu', 'Adirindhi' seems to have a Messiah Syndrome of its own. The Tamil version has opened to phenomenal collections. No wonder Vijay is called a superstar.
