Can a commercially hit film be a good cinema or vice versa? There seems to be a mad rush for the former due to which the latter has been neglected by the contemporary film-makers.
Check out what the film directors say on the latest trend in Tamil cinema. According to director Perarasu, the man who is known for commercial cocktails in Kollywood, 'the most difficult job on earth is to do commercial films. It has to have mass theme. Story, screenplay and songs should unfold at quick pace. There is little time available on the canvas to keep the audience engrossed'.
'At the end of the day, it is a business and I am here to help my producers make some money. I am happy doing such movies', he says.
But talking different is Mysskin, who finds no difference between them. 'Only good movies can be commercial successes. Only movies that are liked by audience go on to achieve commercial success. Every commercial success is definitely a good movie'.
Echoing the same is director Vasanth. 'There is a nothing called off-beat film. A movie that satisfies the taste of masses is a good cinema. The Kollywood looks healthy and positive with lots of good movies are being churned out with talented youngsters making their foray'.
